Exclusive Interview | Richie Ramone LIVE from Hinanos

We caught up with Richie Ramone through a good friend of the WELO fam. We met for a couple beers and shot some pool at Hinano’s (he’s one of the best pool players I’ve ever played btw). He was kind enough to do a quick interview with us about the state of music today and who he is collaborating with next. Check it out below

The Ramones are one of those legendary bands whose influence spans about as wide as you can imagine, any band that starts with “The” has most likely felt the trickle down effects of their influence, not to mention U2. Bono of U2 is very close with all remaining members and on the live concert film, Elevation 2001: Live from BostonBono introduces “In a little while” by explaining it was the last song Joey Ramone heard on his deathbed. He notes his honor of having one of his favorite musicians loving a song of his.

Richie was fortunate to enjoy close bonds with the genius songwriter and bassist Dee Dee Ramone andJoey Ramone who stated, “[Richie] saved the band as far as I’m concerned. He’s the greatest thing to happen to the Ramones. He put the spirit back in the band.” quoted from “Ramones Get Back the Spirit”. In 2011, the Ramones were awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
