4th of July Weekend in Venice | Where to Party, What to Wear, & What to Bring..

Well Folks, the greatest holiday in Venice is upon us. This holiday weekend (along with the last 7 on record) in Venice is gonna be blazing. Literally. The weather is expected to be the High 80′s and the general vibe around town right now is excitement and anticipation for tomorrow’s events and more. Work is winding down now as we speak and the only questions left are Where to party? What to wear? and What do i need to bring to the party? If you plan on being in Venice this weekend, we’ve got ideas on all 3 of these questions.

First, Where’s the party at?

WELO Bash: I think most of us know what’s going down tomm, Saturday July 2nd. Check your email tonight for “details”.  Last year was absolutely off the hook and the one of the best 4th of July parties we’ve thrown to date. This year is surely going down in the books as well. Cover is FREE and if you don’t remember, here’s video of last year’s party (shown below). There will be DJ’s on tap as well as many other surprise guests and shit I can’t even list right now because it’s too much. If you haven’t yet, RSVP here . We recommend getting a good amount of rest tonight, because tomorrow from 1 p.m – Sunday a.m, it’s lights out! Myself and the WELO gang are beyond stoked about throwing this event.

Catamaran Bash: Within walking distance from the WELO jam are our good friends, The Makepeace Brothers, MK & The Gentleman, Peter Goetz, Cory Phillips, Clayton Joseph Scott & other local musicians  throwing down on Catamaran St. An event for charity, The Falling Whistles, it features live bands from 12 p.m – sunset and will surely be a good time. Cover is $20 at the door.

There will be a variety of other events happening at our local stomping grounds, but the 4th is all about the House party and there’s no better spot to be at in Cali or even the good ol’ US of A then Venice on the 4th of July weekend.

Next item, What to wear? How will you show your stripes this Independence Day? Below are a few suggestions for the ladies from fashion editor, Tara Kelly. Fellas, we’re easy. All I can suggest is you wear your favorite shirt, some cargos, throw some daytime cologne on & Manscape.

Bottoms: What’s more American than DEMIM? Grab those old dungarees and get the sheers out and go to town. Formally know as Daisy Dukes or Cut-Offs Jorts, though some of you may disagree, JORTS are still trending high – in all lengths and washes. Find your stencils and DIY a pair for the weekend or check out these on Etsy.

Shoes: Wear the flag on your feet. - Vans, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, even your Mom’s shoes New Balance took to this trend.

Hairstyle: With a tribute to the good old days, toping your head off with a hat might be the way to go. The Trilby is making a come back– not to be confused with a stingy brimmed fedora, the Trilby has an upturned back. Dress any of these with a red, white and blue ribbon and away you go! Pick up these and many more styles on the Boardwalk at Titanic Boutique. The music is blazing out the door so the shop can’t be missed. It will be worth the ear plugs needed to get in there. or simply GO BIG and get your hair did in festive colors.

Spicy Spice: Whether it’s high-end, beach hobo or tre hipster Sex it up with some patriotic Body Paint. There’s a chance you’ll sweat off anything on the arms or tummy area, but lip gloss may be a wild card for any outfit

Lastly, What to bring to the party? Jello Shots! There a sure winner at every party, an ice breaker to talk to that cutie you’ve been eyeing for the past 15 min’s, and who the f#ck doesn’t love sucking down a Jello Shot in 80 degree weather on the beach?

Here’s our favorite recipe:

4th of July Superfruit-Infused Jello Shots
in Strawberry-Pomegranate & Blueberry-Guanábana
Get a vitamin boost while you drink with these delicious and fun jello shots infused with detoxifying pomegranate and firming guanabana. It can’t hurt, right?

You need:

1 box of Jello (6 oz.) in Strawberry & Blueberry
2 BORBA Skin Balance Crystalline Sticks in Pomegranate & Guanábana (you can get a 7 pack of these at the Santa Monica Walgreens store)
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups cold vodka
45 dixie cups with wax lining

How to make them:

Dump 1 box of Jello and 2 BORBA Crystalline Sticks into a medium sized bowl. Microwave 1 cup of water for 2 minutes or until it boils and add to the powder. Mix until dissolved. Allow to cool for about 15 minutes.  Add 3/4 cup cold vodka and stir again. Fill dixie cups about 3/4 full and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.. Wam bam, thank you mam…

Let’s party!

Have a safe and amazing holiday weekend everyone.

  1. JWhite says:

Flag Code Section 8-J States “No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.”

Just saying… Not that the youth of America gives a hoot any more.

Where is the party? I never received an email on the location.
