Alternative Apparel: Flagship Store Opens up on Abbot Kinney

Looking for another great hoodie or that perfect tee but don’t wish to spend your hard earned cash supporting the two sexual harassment lawsuits against the CEO for American Apparel – well look no further west siders another option has just opened up. Alternative Apparel, the basics brand known for top quality construction with a softness quota through the roof, has just released the doors to their flagship shop at 1337 Abbot Kinney. Formally California Herbal Remedies, this 1,700 sf space was aired out and flipped by interior designer Danny Gonzales. Using mixed materials and recycled and reclaimed surfaces, Danny brought the old school feel back into this Craftsman home with a vintage vibe. This esthetic style traces back to what the brand does best: burnout tees with the vintage feel. So it all just makes sense.

“One of the main goals of the retail store is to support the real people behind our brand, and Abbot Kinney seemed like the perfect fit,” Founder and Chief Creative Officer Greg Alterm says, adding “Venice was home to our first California office seven years ago, so it means a lot to us that we’re back in the neighborhood.” With First Friday just around the corner I’m curious to see if there will be cookies out on the counter.  There’s sure to be some lingering hash hounds looking and lost by the makeover.
