When WeLo originally reported on this, we said the Memorial Day gang fight at the Venice Beach boardwalk only involved 50 people. That despite hearing from folks on the scene that there were 80 people involved. Sounded like an over exaggeration to us. But the LA Times later reported there were 70 participants. That’s pretty big.
No tourists or residents were hurt in the incident, but police cleared the beaches anyhow. In the process of doing so, another fight broke out “after police tried to break up a drum circle.” A gang fight followed by a hippie fight? Only in Venice.
