Chasing Kings, Iron Tom at the Stronghold

The Chasing Kings made another appearance at the Stronghold last night. The Venice-based four-piece brought another round of passionate, humble indie-pop (think Wilco, Delta Spirit).  The crowd was also treated to some new material that showed the band branching into more rhythmic, complex songcraft.

Also on the bill, guitar duo “Iron Tom.” On one side, you’ve got a sturdy acoustic rhythms and indie-standard vocals. On the other, an electric guitar, rigged with a monstrous pile of effects pedals. When the setup first appeared, WeLoveVenice wondered, what could they possibly need all that for? Well, we still think it was a tad much, but the kid using it shredded.

Back to the Kings. WeLoveVenice first spotted Chasing Kings in mid-April at the Stronghold, and we’ve been fans ever since (look out for video from the May 1 show and an exclusive interview later this month here at the site).
